Spike Lee has made two films which should be appreciated, Malcolm X and Inside Man. This film is purely great.

It's about a robbery, a bank robbery. Not an ordinary one. I guess you'll have to watch it.

The story is about a soldier, who is sent to Fort Spencer. There, he befriends men from the army. They rescue a man one night and realize he had to eat other men and women during a journey to stay alive. Things escalate and get ugly... Worth watching.

Eastern Promises

So authentic, and well directed. Easily one of the best crime films. It reminded me of The Godfather in a way, although they aren't similar. How can such a magnificent film be nominated for one award at the Oscars.

It tells the story of a 14 year old girl, who gives birth and dies immediately. The nurse on call tries to find a home for the infant, with the help of the mother's diary. She discovers the mother's involvement with the Russian Mafia and they all live happily ever after. No, you didn't just believe that. Take a wild guess what happens next.

Goodbye Solo

An independent film. I doubt most of the cast are even trained actors. They try though and that you must appreciate.

A story about an elderly man, who one day, while in a taxi, offers the driver $ 200 for a ride to a peak of rocks. The driver suspects the man wants to kill himself, since he didn't ask for a ride back. They get to know each other for a few weeks before the ride, as the driver tries to change the man's mind about his plans.

Inglourious Basterds

If you're into thrillers and emotionless films, this would be a good pick. Imagine taking Christoph Waltz out of this film, would it be the same? I don't think so.

There's no particular story here. Several groups plot to blow up a theater full of Nazis. All fiction, but entertaining to watch.

Indiana Jones IV

I could barely stand watching this film. The acting was lame, as was the story. The effects were too much. I didn't feel the chemistry when seeing a great, hell, even a good film. I suppose anyone under the age of 10 might enjoy it. I'm not too sure though.

Certainly not one of the best in the Indiana Jones series. Duration (122 minutes), which was long for a bad film.

Pan's Labyrinth

I personally don't enjoy fantasy films, and the only reason I watched Pan's Labyrinth was because of all the fuss it had caused. I can say, however, that it's one of the best, if not the best fantasy film I've seen thus far.

The film takes place in 1944, following the civil war in Spain. Ofelia, is a young girl who, along with her mother, moves to the country to live with her stepfather, the captain. She enjoys the stay at first, but things quickly deteriorate.

I've seen the film. I understand now how scenes that seem repetitive in films these day, were originally taken from films such as Citizen Kane and others during it's time.

The film details, in retrospective narration, a man's autobiography. What he accomplished in his life, what he wanted most and what he said on his death bed.

Leaving Las Vegas

A story about an agent from Los Angeles, who becomes addicted to alcohol and is fired from his job. He leaves for Las Vegas with all his belongings and determines to drink until he dies. Upon arriving he meets a lady crossing the street, who appears to be a hooker.

They become friends and soon, live with one another. Ben realizes he loves her and must struggle between his mission and this new love he has. Things escalate and end in a tragedy.

After watching the film, I woke up the next morning feeling as if this film had been a dream or maybe a nightmare. I thought Nicolas Cage acted the role of his life until now, and Elizabeth Shue was lovely in every way.

Once Upon a Time in The West

A 'Spaghetti Western'. This film tells the story of a man, who's out for revenge. He isn't great with words, but he isn't bad with his gun.

The opening scene is epic. The film's score is funny and amusing, yet beautifully made. You won't feel sad for the people who die in this film, but entertained. The film's duration (175 minutes), that's the extended cut, which would be the preferable version to watch.

Unforgiven

If you're a fan of 'Spaghetti Westerns', this is one film you need to see. Tells the story of a man who after settling down and forming a family is hired to once again do what he does best.

I wouldn't say the best Western, but I enjoyed watching it. What I understood was somethings in a man you just can't changed, no matter how hard you try. The film's duration (131 minutes long).

The Silence of the Lambs

This film tells the story of an MD. Not your typical Doctor though, It's Hannibal Lector. He assists the FBI in the capturing of a serial killer (Buffalo Bill). Its a true thriller and not for the sensitive.

I enjoyed watching Anthony Hopkins create this character. A mysterious, frightening and quiet man, who you know is always up to something, but doesn't show it. Duration (118 minutes).

Tigerland

This film is about a young rebellious guy, played by Colin Farrell, who's forced into war in 1971. While being trained, he starts his own war, with fellow soldiers and superiors. He does befriend one soldier though.

He desperately wants out, he eventually goes to war but helps a friend out. A good war film, although no war actually occurs in it. The film (100 minutes) is full of fights and hilarious situations.

Malcom X

One of the longest films I've seen is Malcom X. It tells the story of Malcom X (Malik El Shabazz). Both his parents not being there to raise him, at age 20 he goes to prison for 8 years, joins the Nation of Islam (NOI) in prison, and becomes one of the heads of the organization.

Until he figures out the truth about NOI, and how different they are from true Islamic Teachings. He leaves NOI, and is terrorized by them. The film ends with the assassination of Malcom X.

I neither like nor dislike Spike Lee, but the ending of the film was terrible. The film would have been perfect, had the part after Malcom's killing not been there, which will affect my rating of the film. The film's duration (202 minutes), possibly requiring intermissions.

A Russian mob, an informer, and a bunch of thieves who steal from each other without knowing who took what. Another Ritchie film with a similar plot to Snatch and Lock, Stock.

However, the ending makes it amusing and fun to watch. A comedy that's fun to watch, that's how I would describe RockNRolla. Nothing more.

A Beautiful Mind

A film about a scientist who suffers from schizophrenia. Tells the story of how he adapts and finds his way through this tough life. How his wife stands by him and never gives up on him.

I believe the ending is what the film is about. Basically, smart or stupid, beautiful or not, we all want the same thing in life, to be surrounded by ones we love. How the most important discovery in life doesn't satisfy one without another beside him or her to share it with.

Tells the story of a person (a white supremacist) who belongs to a Nazi-like organization. They basically want to wipe out colored people.

Norton goes to prison for viciously beating a black person and there he realizes whats right. He gets out of prison and tries to get a job and organize his life. At the same time, trying to correct his young brothers' beliefs.

The price he had to pay for his actions prior to going to prison were devastating. Not a long film (119 minutes long). I really enjoyed watching Norton's performance in this film.

Fight Club

The title says it all, or does it. This film tells the story of a guy (Edward Norton) who's suffering from insomnia and low self esteem. He befriends someone who turns his life around and helps him stand up for himself by forming a 'Fight Club'.

First rule of Fight Club: Never talk about Fight Club, so I won't. I can say that its stimulating and probably one of the best films ever made. For those of you who hate fight films and thrillers, this isn't just that, but much more deeper, funny and at times catastrophic. Duration (139 minutes).

If you notice I have a collection of Brad Pitt's films. Its only because I realized what a talented actor he is. Able to play different roles with excellence.

Snatch

This film is funny, yet serious. I've seen it 7 times, 3 of which with my friends (you know who you are) and I laugh at the same scenes every time.

It tells the story of a boxing promoter, who wanted to buy a new caravan to replace his old one, but sadly ends up having to buy someone else a caravan. A jewel is also stolen in an entirely different story. Zee two stories eventually meet up at the end.

A comedy, but a thriller as well. Mr. Ritchie is perhaps best in this type of genre.

This film is about a heist that turns into a number of unplanned murders. Starring Vincent Gallo, in what I saw as an Oscar worthy role. He, along with his girlfriend and 2 other friends, try to find a better life by stealing a case full of drugs.

They find themselves in trouble with the police, the DEA and the mob. Full of suspense and never at any moment becomes boring . Not a long film (107 minutes). Enjoy

A guy is about to get married. He's a lady's man and doesn't really know how to act around guys. He starts meeting guys in order to have a best man at his wedding.

Paul Rudd played very well, with his clumsiness. Jason Segel was funny, but not his best role. There are a few very funny scenes.

The Hangover

I watched The Hangover and from the beginning, I could not stop laughing. From Alan, who acts like a retaard, to Stu, who is scared as hell from his girlfriend. The film is a classic.

Basically, the film tells the story, in retrospect, of 4 guys who go to Las Vegas, and wake up forgetting what happened the night before. They're on a mission to figure out where the groom is and try to get him back to LA in time for his wedding. A weird friendship is formed in the process between Alan and the rest. Classic

This is of course Part I. Tells the story of The Corleone 'Mafia' family and their lives. One of the best films ever made.

A long film, but never boring (175 minutes). Always entertaining, with fine actors. I will not spoil it and tell you any of the events.

The Ruins

A good thriller. Not the best, but better than The Shining and Rosemary's Baby. A group of young adults go on vacation to Mexico and decide to visit a historical site (a Mayan ruin) to join a German tourist's brother, who had been there for days. Little did they know about the locals there.

They struggle to get out of the ruin and survive. Do they die or make it out alive? Watch it, its only 90 minutes long.

The Wrestler

I've seen Requiem For a Dream and The Wrestler. Both films are dark and mysterious. This film tells the story of an aging wrestler who revisits his daughter after suffering a Heart attack. It follows him as he adjusts to a new lifestyle he isn't used to.

I can't express what I think about the film, its plain glorious. Also, Mickey Rourke made a tremendous comeback.

The Proposition

A wonderful western film. Tells the story of a guy (Guy Pearce) who is caught along with his younger brother. They're also both the brothers of a notorious outlaw and criminal.

A proposition to set him free with his younger brother puts him in a difficult situation. Follow as Pearce is forced to choose between two brothers. Its an entertaining film, not long (104 minutes long) and full of exciting scenes.

Rosemary's Baby

I saw the rating on Rosemary's Baby and instantly thought I should watch it. It turned out to be a film devoid of any horror or thriller. Its basically a couple who are trying to have a baby who live next to an peculiar elderly couple.

It probably resembles The Shining in a way. It's the suspense that's exciting, otherwise its a boring and long film (136 minutes long).

Get Smart is a parody to James Bond in a way, but not in every aspect. I think Steve Carell is funny, but sometimes can be too funny, to a point where you just stop laughing. The film isn't bad, if you're looking for a few laughs and silly moments, but isn't an adventure or a real spy film.

The Dark Knight

I enjoyed watching this movie for several reasons. The plot is real good and the acting was as well. I won't say Heath Ledger stood out, because the majority of the actors were good.

Its not just a superhero movie and you spend most of the time thinking it isn't one. It has meaning and teaches us a lesson about greed. I cannot describe what I felt watching the movie, but it shows how human beings can act under pressure and fearful situations.

Its a long film (152 minutes long), but there wasn't a dull not boring moment in it.

The Shining

The anticipation of something terrible happening is the scary part of this film. This was not a real horror film. It was too long and boring as you're waiting for a kill or a choke.

This is similar to Rosemary's Baby in that they're both horror films, but I just don't see it. It might be because I'm young (24 years old) and horror is much bloodier and enhanced by visual and sound effects nowadays.

Jim Carrey's humor is present, but the timing is bad. He's funny as always, but the plot is poor. I felt that most of the jokes made in the film were funny, to a nine year old. Certainly not one of Carrey's best films.

This is the kind of film you would want to watch if you were doing nothing and just wanted to kill time.

There Will Be Blood

I haven't read the novel, but I bet the film is just as good. Daniel Day-Lewis Portrays a man, businessman, who travels around convincing people to dig up their lands for oil. He's persuasive and intelligent, but hides any emotion he might have even with his own son.

I have seen many of Daniel's films and I'm convinced that he's able to play any role with absolute perfection. The music is new and exciting. Another Western which proved to be great.

The Assassination of Jesse James by the Coward Robert Ford

I enjoyed watching this film. It had elements of a documentary rather than a movie. It was a long movie (160 minutes long), but never at all boring. Its classified as a western, but there isn't much shooting as in your typical western movie.

If an actor can make you believe that they are that character they're playing, then he's doing a real good job. Pitt and Affleck both did that and were excellent.

There aren't too many good western movies nowadays. This movie, however, was.
